# Portals

Portals allows you to split an arrow in two, disconnecting them visually. This can be achieved by right clicking the arrow and selecting the 'split' option. This can be very useful for cleaning up a messy node graph, and lets you avoid very long arrows, or arrows that go backwards when doing [loops](/midio-docs/guides/loops-1.md).
